Does your furry friend have an ID tag? If not, it’s important that you get them one immediately.  Just like humans who have identification cards, your puppy needs one too. Find out why it’s important for your puppy to have an ID tag.

Licensing

When your furry friend joins your family, most cities will require you to register your new pup and have them take their necessary vaccinations. Doing so will you keep you updated on all your puppies health needs and can help animal control properly identify your puppy in the case that they wander off.

Safety

An ID tag increases the possibility of finding your furry pal. Most puppy owners provide their contact information so that animal control, your neighbor, or someone passing by can easily contact you about your pup. It’s also a good idea to add your puppy’s name on their ID tag so whoever finds him/her can call them by their name. This will help comfort your pup if they are startled or confused.

Health

Having an ID tag can provide information about your puppy if he/she has a disability, health issues or is allergic to specific things. This lets those who interact with your puppy to be aware of their disabilities or any health issues and ensures your puppy is safe and sound.

It’s important that your furry friend is given an ID tag that identifies who they are and where they come from. In the sad case that your puppy is lost, anyone can easily identify who their loving owner is and who to contact.

That’s why every 1st Saturday of April, we honor Every Day is Tag Day to raise awareness on the importance of ID tags to ensure the safe return of a lost friend.
