With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, it’s that time of year to show love and affection to your significant other! While you’re busy purchasing flowers or making reservations at a romantic spot, you may have overlooked your partner’s desire for a cuddly and cute gift: a puppy!

It doesn’t matter if they’re looking up online pictures or gushing over puppies with their friends—it’s obvious their puppy fever is at its maximum! If you aren’t sure your partner is ready for a four-legged best friend, they may be hoping you figure it out first.

Instead of wondering what your loved one wants for Valentine’s Day, keep a close eye on these following signs!

1. They can’t stop looking at puppy pictures.

Ever notice your partner gazing at pictures of Bichon Frises? Yorkies? How about every time they look up Pugs or Huskies

Now, there’s nothing wrong with aweing over pictures of puppies from time to time. Puppies are an adorable, furry bundle of joy, and it’s hard for anyone to resist their charms. However, if your partner is going out of their way to search and peruse through hundreds of puppy pictures online, there’s definitely something there.

You may find yourself in denial, but pay attention to your significant other the next time you’re both together. Do their eyes lighten up whenever you bring up the topic of a puppy? How often do they open up Instagram to show you their favorite breed? With these observations in mind, you’ll soon have the answer to your suspicions.

2. They are always up for puppy playtime.

If your significant other loves hanging at Petland for playtime with our puppies, they likely have a need for a special puppy (or puppies) in their lives.

We at Petland don’t mind letting customers have playdates with our furry cuties. In fact, our puppies are more than happy to meet and play with new people!

We know how much happiness our puppies bring to others through their outgoing, friendly personalities. Our staff is always excited to provide future puppy parents the chance to get to know the puppies they want to adopt. If your partner has had their eye on our pups, it’s a telltale sign that they want a cuddly bestie by their side!

3. They talk about their puppy fever.

When the two of you are out shopping or surfing the web for deals, your partner may just drop a hint on what they really want this Valentine’s Day by stating the obvious—”I just love puppies!”

To further emphasize their puppy fever, they may delve into the nitty gritty details of their puppy fever (prepare to hear some sighing too!), especially if the topic of Valentine’s Day suddenly comes up. It may not be the most subtle way to hint on a gift but it gives you a head start!

4. They make up scenarios about having a puppy.

Your significant other may be the imaginative or idealistic type. You know, the one who’s always coming up with hypothetical situations about a particular event or object. Maybe you’ve noticed how enthusiastic your partner gets when they talk about their “completely hypothetical scenario” about having a puppy in the house.

If so, your loved one isn’t shying away about their need for a four-legged companion. They may pair up their scenario with other signs on this list, like showing you puppy pictures or jumping into conversations about what dog they think is best for them. And if they’re very excited about the idea, they may even ask you for your opinion.

This clever tactic may be the encouragement you need to get your partner the special present that’ll make their dreams a reality.

5. Their friends are dropping semi-subtle hints.

Maybe your partner’s not-so-subtle behavior has yet to convince you, but their friends hints might give you that extra push.

It’s common for people, especially ones obsessed with a particular gift, to recruit their friends or relatives to pass on ideas to the giver. It’s a sneaky way to let the giver think their partner’s friends are doing them a huge favor, when in truth, your partner was the one behind it all.

You may start hearing strange comments about puppies or a story about how your partner gushed over that cute little Dachshund at Petland the other day. Once you have an idea of what your loved one has in mind, you’ll surely find a puppy that’s just for them this Valentine’s Day.

Bringing a new puppy home is a wonderful experience that shows just how much you love your significant other. Be sure you and your loved one are ready to take on a puppy and everything that comes with it. Puppies are a lifelong commitment, and if you accept the challenge, you and your partner will always have a special little gift that brings joy to your home. We hope that you and your partner have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
