From Goldendoodle to Cavapoo, designer dogs have gained popularity in the last couple of years…and for good reason! Designer dogs are some of the kindest dog breeds in the world. Now, you may be wondering: what are designer dogs? What makes them so special?

Well, all designer dog breeds are dogs that have two purebred parents. For example, the beautiful Goldendoodle is a mix of the Golden Retriever and Poodle breeds, and usually inherits the cutest qualities of each parent. Along with their adorable looks, designer dogs are known for being absolute sweethearts to anyone they meet. That’s what makes them so popular among dog owners! Currently, there are various types of designer dog breeds that are winning hearts.

Here are 6 of the most adorable designer dogs you should know about!

1. Goldendoodle

Goldendoodles are smart, friendly, and loving dogs that make great furry friends. They’re also very energetic, which is a trait they inherit from their Golden Retriever and Poodle parents. Because of this, they need some type of activity or exercise daily. Goldendoodles are also incredibly talented at learning. This makes it super easy to train them. And like their Golden Retriever parent, they love meeting new people. That’s what makes them amazing therapy dogs! Goldendoodles are also hypoallergenic, so they do not shed their fur as much as other dogs!

2. Cavapoo

Adorable and fluffy, the Cavapoo is a dog that’s packed with charm. Cavapoos are a mix of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Poodle breeds—and have the best traits from both parents! Apart from their downright good looks, Cavapoos are very outgoing, playful, and friendly. They thrive when they’re surrounded by their loved ones, and enjoy playing and doing activities.

Unlike the Goldendoodles, Cavapoos do not need much exercise. A few minutes of playtime outside is enough for these dogs. Cavapoos are also very people-oriented so it’s not a good idea to leave them alone for long periods of time. This breed is highly intelligent so they’re easy to train and excel in athletic competitions.

3. Labradoodle

The Labradoodle is a mix of two beautiful dog breeds: the Labrador Retriever and the Poodle. Labradoodles are a unique designer dog in many ways. Unlike many designer dog breeds, the Labradoodle originated in Australia, and become super popular in the Land Down Under before the breed came to the United States.

Intelligent, friendly, and social, the Labradoodle is naturally curious about the world around them. They love people (that’s a common theme with many designer dogs!) and hate being alone for too long. Their people-oriented personalities allow them to be great family pets. Labradoodles are also energetic…sometimes a little too much! If you have young children, be sure to supervise their playtime sessions with your Labradoodle. Their coat requires some attention. Most Labradoodles have a shaggy, curly coat that needs regular brushing.

4. Cockapoo

With its scruffy coat and cute button nose, the Cockapoo has stolen the hearts of many dog owners! The Cockapoo is a mix between the Cocker Spaniel and the Poodle. This cross makes it hard to predict how a Cockapoo puppy may look like. Most Cockapoos weigh around 6 to 30 pounds, depending on the size of their Poodle parent. Their coat also comes in a variety of gorgeous colors and patterns, including brown, chocolate, and lightly golden. Their fluffy, wavy coat often helps them look like scruffy teddy bears!

Cockapoos are also extremely friendly and prefer being around other people, even strangers. Their intelligence and eager-to-please personalities also make them easy to train. They’re also quite lively so they’ll need to exercise frequently to be happy and healthy.

5. Morkie Poo

One of the most popular designer dog breeds on our list, the Morkie Poo is a cute, sweet-natured dog with a lot of love to give. They share similarities with the Morkie breed but there are differences you should know. The Morkie Poo is the perfect mix of the Maltese, Yorkie, and Poodle breeds. These dogs are naturally kind, intelligent, and loving. It’s almost like Morkie Poos can’t get enough of you. Whether you’re on the couch or outside, these dogs will never stop giving you their full attention!

Because Morkie Poos form strong attachments to their loved ones, they are one of the few designer dogs that become a little protective around strangers. This boldness in their personality comes with their Yorkie parent. Morkie Poos can also be independent and even mischievous. They may try to test you during training. Make sure to train and socialize your Morkie Poo at an early age so that it learns to be a well-mannered dog

5. Cavachon

The Cavachon is a cute little designer dog that’s a mix between the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Bichon Frise breeds. Cavachons have a sweet, playful personality that will surely win you over. These dogs are super affectionate, especially with young children. They love joining in on the action at family events.

Cavachons are known for their silky coat that grows wavy or curly. It also comes in many different colors, markings, and patterns. Cavachons are adaptable to different living environments and do well in small apartments. This breed is very smart and can be trained quickly. Their eagerness to learn helps them become great companions for all types of families!

Whether you love Morkie Poos or Cavachons, it’s safe to say that designer dogs are booming in popularity. Their cute looks and friendly personalities make them irresistible for many dog owners. It’s important to remember that many designer dogs require constant companionship. Many designer dog breeds have a fear of loneliness and can have separation anxiety if left alone for too long! Make sure you can give a designer dog the love and affection it deserves.
